Unravelled

I want you

to unravel me,

until the strings of my soul

are draped across your hand;

inspect the ways they twist and tangle together

And I will unravel you,

until the threads of your being fall,

around me like a halo.

I will watch the way the light catches things

I’ve never seen in you before

Let us sit and face each other,

completely laid out

raw and untangled,

and try to understand the reason our ends seem to be tied together

A knot that will never come undone,

no matter how many ways

we try to put ourselves back together.

And if you look a little deeper

there are many ends

tied to many people

that will never come undone

This is what we are here to do,

to tie these knots

that last a lifetime
