This month, 8 of our poets competed in a Mad Libs competition. They were given a poem with a bunch of words removed and encouraged to fill in the blanks to create a new version. The original poem, written by Allie McFarland, played with form by having a title that was longer than its contents.

Ruminations on [Gender Equality] as Narrated by a [Communist] Vulture on an [Acid Trip] [to] [Enlightenment] while [He] [Waits] for [His] [Mom] to [Finish] Dead [to] [Me]. (The [Extensive] [Pay Gap] is [Understandable] and the Vulture will [Possibly] [Take] [Sides] Unless [He] [Turns] Off the [Microwave] But [He] [Burnt] a [Marshmallow] [Sandwich] Yesterday).
Shining [Opinions] [Flutter] [to] —that’s nothing new.
Here [lies] a [Liberal].
[Communist] [men] [paint] the splayed [gender pay gap] downwards.
[Feminist]. Or [anarchist]. Or disfigured [stoner].
The [patriarchy] is irrelevant.
