A beach in Bamfield, 11:49 am

As I sit down on the rocks

and look onto the glistening ocean

I greet that friend of mine called peace

and welcome it into my heart

The smell of seaweed and salty water

piercing my nostrils

Bull kelp twirling pirouettes around the waves

The rough barnacles

tickling my skin

I feel alive

I feel free

I hold on to that moment

absorbing every second of it

As I wait for life to sweep me far away from shore

yet again
